Cardboard Skin Packaging Trays

Cardboard Skin Packaging Trays

What is Skin Packaging?

Skin packaging is a vacuum-sealing process where:

  1. The product is placed on the tray or flat board.
  2. A heated, transparent plastic film is draped over the product and board.
  3. Vacuum is applied, pulling the film tightly around the product and bonding it to the board with an adhesive layer or heat.

Typical Tray Types

  1. Flat Skin Boards
    • Fully flat cardboard sheets, often used with adhesive coating or film-seal layer.
    • Ideal for sliced meat, cheese, and fish fillets.
    • Often laminated with PE or PET layer for sealing.
  2. Shallow Die-Cut Trays
    • Low-edge cardboard trays, offering some shape definition.
    • Used for items needing a bit of depth (sausages, meat cuts).
  3. Corrugated Cardboard Trays
    • For heavier or industrial products (hardware, tools).
    • May have printed branding or instructions.
